What should I do and know about a new prescription from my doctor?
- Why you have been prescribed this medicine and what you can expect from taking it.
- That it does not conflict with any other medicine that you are currently taking or with any allergies that you might have.
Why does it take so long (20 minutes or so) to fill a prescription?
- While you may not see customers waiting in the pharmacy area, prescriptions are called in or dropped off for pickup later. Other customers may be shopping
- To do a quality job, the pharmacist must take time to review your patient profile and provide time to answer any questions that you may have.
Why does my medication cost me more this time than when I came
in just last month?
-
Prescription prices may change at any time. Primarily this
occurs through the manufacture/drug company but may happen at the store due to
market conditions.
-
Prices are usually as low as possible and very competitive
Would my drug costs be lower if I mail away for prescriptions
or buy them over the Internet?
-
Either way the costs are the same with Hannaford.
Why are some drugs not available as a generic?
-
Each new drug that comes to market has a protection of its
patent for up to 17 years. Until that period expires a generic is not
available.
