Ingredients

This beloved regional topping for hot dogs is known for its rich, tangy flavor with a hint of sweetness. For an extra kick, garnish with jalapenos, or add a pop of freshness with parsley.
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup chili sauce
1 (6-oz.) can tomato paste
14 oz. ketchup (1 3/4 cups)
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
3/4 Tbsp. white vinegar
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Hot sauce (optional)
Michigan Sauce

Directions

Place beef in a colander and rinse with warm water. Press out liquid.
To a medium saucepan, add beef and heat over low for 1 minute, until pink. Add onion, chili sauce, tomato paste, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce, if desired. Simmer over low until beef is cooked through, about 15 minutes. Serve over grilled hot dogs.
