Reduce heat and simmer for 45 minutes or until all water is absorbed. * Cooking Measurement Chart: For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. For moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. Rice: 1 cup; Water: 2 1/2 cups; Makes: 3 1/2 cups; Servings (3/4 cup cooked): 5. Rice: 2 cup; Water: 5 cups; Makes: 7 cups; Servings (3/4 cup cooked): 9. Rice: 3 cup; Water: 7 1/2 cups; Makes: 10 1/2 cups; Servings (3/4 cup cooked): 14. ** Add 1 tbsp. butter and 1 tsp. salt per cup of uncooked rice, if desired. Cooking Directions in the Microwave ***. 1. In a 2 1/2 quart microwave-safe dish, combine 3 cups water and 1 cup brown rice **. 2. Microwave uncovered on high for 10 minutes. Reduce power to 50%, microwave uncovered for 20 minutes. Allow rice to sit for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork and serve. Do not add salt or butter/margarine to the rice until after the rice is cooked. *** It is recommended that only 1 cup rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Brown Rice Storage: For longer shelf life we recommend storing brown rice in the refrigerator or freezer. Pull to open.
