Directions

Cooking Instructions Oven: Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In a 1-1/2 quart baking dish, stir together potatoes, sauce mix, 2 cups boiling water (Use boiling water for best potato texture and sauce appearance), 1/2 cup 2% milk, and 2 tablespoons butter, softened. Bake uncovered about 20 minutes or until top is light golden brown (If you would like the top more golden brown, bake 5 minutes longer (potatoes will be softer) and potatoes are tender. Remove from oven (sauce will thicken as it stands). Microwave: Stir together potatoes, sauce mix, 2-1/2 cups hot water, 1/2 cup 2% milk, and 2 tablespoons softened butter in a 2-quart microwave-safe dish. Microwave on high for 13 to 18 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes, until potatoes are tender. (Sauce will thicken as it stands). Dish will be hot. Note: Cooking time is approximate because microwave ovens vary. High altitude: Increase hot water to 2-3/4 cups and microwave time to 15 to 20 minutes. Stovetop: Heat potatoes, sauce mix, 2 cups hot water, 2 tablespoons butter, and 1/2 cup 2% milk to boiling in a 2-quart saucepan over high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are tender and sauce is as thick as you'd like (Sauce will thicken as it stands). High altitude: No changes.
