McCormick® Celery Seeds are hand-selected for their distinct celery flavor. The seeds are brown in color with a mild crunch and a warm, earthy taste and aroma that enhances seafood, salads, dressings and brines. Celery seed is the dried seed of a wild variety of celery called smallage which is not the vegetable we are all familiar with. Grilling season is a great time to have a jar of whole celery seed on hand. Add to barbecue sauce and spice rubs for grilled or smoked meats. Use to season coleslaw and other picnic salads like potato, macaroni, cucumber dill or tuna. Great for pickles, relishes, chutneys and Bloody Mary mixes. The pungent, somewhat bitter flavor of celery seed goes a long way, so start with a pinch.
