Of French-speaking background, the Bouchard family carries both French Acadian and Indigenous ancestry - traditions that shaped their values of hard work, resilience, and connection to the land. In it's earliest days, Lionel balanced farming with laboring for other local growers, steadily building the foundation of what would become a multi-generational enterprise. With determination and careful stewardship, the Bouchards gradually expanded their acreage and deepened their roots in northern Maine's potato industry. The second generation brought renewed energy and collaboration to the farm, with Maynard, Darrell, and Galen joining the operation as partners. Together, they carried forward the family's commitment to quality and sustainability, strengthening both the farm's productivity and its reputation. In time, the next generation stepped in, with cousins Rickey and Craig Bouchard continuing the family legacy. Their shared efforts maintained the farm's steady growth and adaptation in an evolving agricultural landscape. In 2020, Rickey Bouchard assumed full ownership, marking a new chapter while honoring the decades of work that came before him. Today, Bouchard Farm cultivates nearly 200 acres of high-quality chipping potatoes, supplying crops known for their flavor and consistency to Taste of Maine kettle chips. The fertile soils and favorable climate of the region provide ideal conditions for producing potatoes of exceptional taste - continuing a tradition that began over half a century ago. Looking ahead, the future of Bouchard Farm rests with the next generation: Alex, Riley, and Dylan. As they prepare to carry on the family legacy, they inherit not only the land, but a proud history rooted in culture, community, and a steadfast dedication to farming.
