Scarborough, ME – As part of the company’s ongoing commitment to community, Hannaford Supermarket locations in Falmouth, Gorham, Portland Riverside, and Westbrook have collectively donated a total of $20,000 to area nonprofits.

Hannaford Supermarket in Falmouth donated $2,500 to Falmouth Food Pantry and $2,500 to The Locker Project.

“With our recent renovations, our store is now more focused on highlighting fresh foods, especially with our expanded produce department,” said Diana Darling, Falmouth store manager. “It seemed fitting, as we’re bringing these great new offerings to our customers, that we can also give back to two incredible organizations that help ensure food security for members of our community.”

Hannaford Supermarket in Gorham donated $2,500 to Helping Paws and $2,500 to Gorham Schools Backpack Program.

“In addition to recognizing the great work Helping Paws is doing by connecting community members with homeless animals, we’d like to applaud the Gorham Schools Backpack Program for providing students with staple food items to get them through the week,” said Kacey Pike, Gorham store manager. “Food insecurity is a real problem, and it’s wonderful to see parents and teachers coming together to combat it in our own community.”

Hannaford Supermarket in Portland Riverside donated $2,500 to Abyssinian Meetinghouse and $2,500 to Riverton Elementary.

“We are grateful to be able to give back to these local organizations. Hannaford’s commitment to our customers and community is reflected in everything we do as a company, from our recent store renovations to this outreach to local nonprofits that can use our support,” said Molly Leopin, assistant store manager at Portland Riverside.

Hannaford Supermarket in Westbrook donated $2,500 to My Place Teen Center and $2,500 to the Westbrook Community Center.

“At Hannaford, we pride ourselves on being a conveniently located, affordable resource for our customers,” said Ken Kirouac, Hannaford's Westbrook store manager. “We’re lucky to have other great resources in place here in Westbrook, and I’m proud that we can support two of them with these donations.”

These donations were made in conjunction with Grand Reopening/Customer Appreciation events being held this month at each of the four stores. After renovations, these stores are now able to offer a wider range of services to customers, including more variety at in-store Kitchens, new store designs with expanded Produce Departments, and Pharmacies that offer customers a private consultation room to speak privately with their pharmacist or receive an immunization. Additionally, all four stores now have Hannaford to Go, a service that allows customers to order groceries online and pick up their order at the store.
