West Hurley Hannaford to open this summer

Scarborough, Maine -- Hannaford Supermarkets today announced plans to open a store in West Hurley, N.Y. this summer at Hurley Ridge Plaza.

"Hannaford is excited about the opportunity to serve local residents and become an active member of the community," said Eric Blom, company spokesman. "Customers will find great fresh food, a wide assortment of products and everyday low prices at their West Hurley Hannaford."

The store will be located at the site of the Hurley Ridge Market. Hurley's owner, Barbara Epstein, has retired to Florida and sold the plaza.  She announced plans to close the business that she founded with her late husband, Bill.

The property's new owner, Southern Realty and Development, approached Hannaford about leasing the 26,000-square-foot space once Epstein closed Hurley Ridge Market.  Renovations will begin immediately after that store's closure and are expected to last one month.

"Our goal is to open the new Hannaford as quickly as possible to begin serving customers," Blom said. "We understand how important a supermarket is for local residents, both as a source of groceries and as a community center."

Hannaford has been serving Northeast customers since the business was founded in Maine 1883.  The company operates 49 supermarkets in New York.
