Read about our privacy practices and learn how you can make choices about your personal information – all in one place. For more information, please read our Privacy Statement.
What Information Do We Collect?
We may collect personal information about you in various ways. For example, we may collect information directly from you – for example, when you sign up for a My Hannaford Rewards® account, or when you provide information via our websites or mobile apps.
We may collect information about you by tracking your interactions with us. This can take place through your engagement with our websites and mobile apps, or through purchases made in-store or online.
Additionally, we may obtain information from third parties about you – for example, to help understand your preferences or make our advertising more relevant to you.
For more information, we encourage you to read the Information We Obtain section of our Privacy Statement.
How We Use Your Information
Below are some examples of how we use the information we collect from you:
- To complete our transactions with you in-store or online, and to fulfill any requests made by you, such as enrolling you in a My Hannaford Rewards® account, delivering weekly sales emails to you, or processing a return.
- To improve your customer experience by sharing coupons that are relevant to you, recommending products you may be interested in, and providing a consistent user experience across your devices, browsers, and apps.
- To understand our business better, ensuring we know how to improve our website and apps, develop new ways for you to shop and save, and help keep popular products in stock.
For more information, we encourage you to read the How We Use the Information We Obtain section of our Privacy Statement.
How We Share Your Information
We are selective about who we share your information with.
We may share your personal information with suppliers or business partners to fulfill your requests or transactions, for example when you place a Hannaford order via Instacart.
Sometimes we share information with service providers for internal uses, such as to help us understand our customers’ needs. We have agreements in place that limit their use of personal information they use to perform the services.
We also may share personal information for legal purposes, such as to enforce our legal rights, in response to a request from law enforcement authorities, or when we are required to do so by applicable law. Also, we may share personal information to protect ourselves or others from harm.
For more information, we encourage you to read the Information We Share section of our Privacy Statement.
Information We Sell
We sell transaction information of loyalty customers to third party partners that specialize in customer insights and provide other customer-focused services. We also sell audience information of loyalty customers to third party partners to help personalize product offers and advertising from manufacturers and other third parties. When we work with these partners, we use industry-standard techniques to help ensure your data is kept secure and only used for its intended purposes. You have the right to opt your data out of these activities. For more information, we encourage you to read the Information We Share section of our Privacy Statement.
Your Data Privacy Rights
We want to help you understand your rights regarding the data we have about you, and give you a say in what we do with that data. Below is a summary of each action, and how it may impact benefits you receive from Hannaford.
Opting Out of Targeted Advertising and Sale of Personal Information
Your privacy is important to us. As a Hannaford customer, you can opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information. If you choose to opt out, your data will no longer be used for these purposes, and if you are a My Hannaford Rewards® loyalty program member, you will continue to receive the benefits you currently receive from Hannaford.
In some cases, we share personal information with third parties (such as online advertising services) or allow them to collect personal information on our websites and apps for targeted advertising purposes. This activity may be considered a sale of personal information under certain laws. As described above, we may also sell transaction and audience information to third-party partners that specialize in customer insights and other services and help personalize product offers and advertising. For more information on these situations, please review our Privacy Statement.
Please note that even if you opt out, you may still see ads for Hannaford online or offline, but they may not be as personalized or targeted to you directly. You may also update your browser settings to restrict or disable certain browser cookies.
If you choose to opt out of targeting advertising and sale of personal information as described above, please complete both of the steps listed below.
- For Automated Technologies: To opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information that involve automated technologies on this site, like web browser cookies and trackers, please complete the Automated Technologies Opt-out form or broadcast the Global Privacy Control ("GPC") signal. If you use our mobile app, you can also opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information that involve automated technologies on the app. Please note that if you clear your cookies on a particular browser or device, you may need to resubmit your opt-out request again from that device or browser. More information is available from GPC.
- For other processing: To opt out of targeted advertising and the sale of personal information that do not involve automated technologies on this site, please complete the Manage Other Disclosures form or call 1-800-213-9040.
Opting out of Emails and Other Communications: You may at any time ask us to stop sending you emails or other communications by unsubscribing from our marketing mailing list by selecting the “Unsubscribe” link in our emails or by calling us at 1-800-213-9040. You may also update your preferences online through your Hannaford account. Please note that you may continue receiving certain transactional messages from us.
Requesting And Correcting My Data
If you are a resident of New Hampshire, you have the right to request a copy of the personal information we have about you. This information will include:
- Data you have given us directly such as your name, address, phone number, devices associated with you, and your marketing preferences.
- Data we have obtained through your interactions with us, such as your transaction history with Hannaford, your actions on the Hannaford website, and any benefits associated with your loyalty account (personalized offers, digital coupons).
- Data that third parties have shared about you, such as your demographic data.
This data will also include any customer segmentations associated with your loyalty account. Customer segmentations are groups of customers created by Hannaford that help us understand how customers purchase with us, what you have purchased in the past or are likely to purchase in the future, and what coupons and content are relevant to you.
If you have multiple Hannaford loyalty accounts, you must complete this request for each account associated with you. To begin the data request process, please complete the Privacy Request form. After filling out the form, we will send an email to begin verifying your identity. Once you have received the email and follow the included instructions, we will process your request.
Under New Hampshire law, you also have the right to correct personal information we have about you, such as your name, address, phone number, devices associated with you, and your marketing preferences. Correcting your data ensures that the coupons, messaging, and benefits you receive from Hannaford are accurate and relevant to you. To begin the process of correcting your data, please complete the Privacy Request form. After filling out the form, we will send an email to begin verifying your identity. Once you have received the email and follow the included instructions, we will process your request.
Deleting Your Account and Personal Information
If you are a resident of New Hampshire, you have the right to request that we delete your personal information. This data can include personal information like your name and address, transactions that you have made with us using your My Hannaford Rewards® account, information about your personal preferences, and any rewards, coupons, or benefits you have associated with your loyalty account.
After we delete the personal information associated with a loyalty account, we cannot reverse the process. Any benefits, rewards, or personalized coupons associated with the loyalty account are permanently deleted. If you would like to re-join the Hannaford loyalty program, you will need to sign up again and receive a new My Hannaford Rewards® account.
After deleting your account, you will be removed from marketing messaging from Hannaford, including emails, physical mail, mobile push notifications, or digital targeted advertising. Consistent with applicable law, it may take up to three (3) months for your request to be processed, and you may still see marketing messaging during this time.
If you just want to stop receiving marketing emails from Hannaford, but keep other benefits such as personalized coupons, you can unsubscribe from our mailing list. Click the ‘Unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of any Hannaford email to stop receiving weekly savings emails. You may also update your preferences online through your Hannaford account.
If you just want to stop targeted advertising and the sale of personal information, visit the Opting Out of Targeted Advertising and Sale of Personal Information section of the Privacy Center to learn more.
We may retain certain data if your information is needed to fulfill your requests or transactions, or if we are otherwise required or permitted to do so by law. For example, if you have an in-progress order with us, or if we need to retain certain data for legal requirements such as tax compliance or to manage fraud.
To request deletion of your loyalty account and personal information, please complete the Privacy Request form. After completing the form, we will send an email to begin verifying your identity. Once you have received the email and follow the included instructions, we will process your request.
If you have several loyalty accounts and would like to request that we remove your information from all of them, you must make a separate deletion request for each one.
