Expansion planned for Waldoboro Hannaford
Scarborough, Maine – Hannaford Supermarkets has proposed an expansion of its Waldoboro store that would greatly increase the variety and selection of products available to local customers.
The store, which is located on Route 1, would grow in size by more than 50 percent under the proposal. As part of the expansion, Hannaford also would install new equipment that reduces energy and water consumption and fixtures to update the appearance of the supermarket to give it a fresh, new look.
"This expansion will nearly double the selling space we have and allow us to carry a much wider variety of items across the supermarket," said Waldoboro Store Manager Rick Purinton. "Our customers will especially appreciate the new fresh offerings."
Hannaford hopes to secure required state and local permits to allow construction to start next winter.
