Reason for Recall

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) is advising that consumers not eat, and retailers not sell, any romaine lettuce harvested from the Salinas, California, growing region because the product has the potential to be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) is advising that consumers not eat, and retailers not sell, any romaine lettuce harvested from the Salinas, California, growing region because the product has the potential to be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.
 
Officials believe this product may be tied to an outbreak of E. coli illnesses that have been diagnosed in different states. In an abundance of caution, Hannaford is voluntary removing from sale all products that might be impacted by this advisory. Packaged romaine products are labeled with their growing region. If the product is NOT labeled as being from Salinas, and is labeled as being from another region, the product is safe to eat. If customers are unsure whether a romaine lettuce product they purchased was produced in Salinas, California, we encourage customers not to eat the product.
