1. In a small bowl, combine berries, sugar, and salt. Crush berries with the back of a spoon, then let sit 10 minutes. Strain berries and discard juices, then stir in black pepper.
2. Spread butter over one side of each slice of brioche. Set two slices of brie each on the bare sides of two bread slices, then top with berry mixture. Set remaining bread slices on top, butter side up.
3. Cook sandwiches in a medium nonstick skillet over medium-low heat until bread is golden and cheese is melted, 3 to 5 minutes per side, covering pan for the last few minutes if needed to thoroughly melt cheese.
