Hannaford dietitians offer tips for healthy summer season in free classes

Jul. 15, 2024

Description
Free online events bring flavor, good health and timesaving to summer

Details:

SCARBOROUGH, Maine – Registered dietitians at Hannaford Supermarkets are showing that it is easy to make summer barbecuing more flavorful and healthier.

Among many free online classes this summer led by registered dietitians at Hannaford, the Better for You BBQ webinar shows that there is more to health than just those colorful vegetables on the grill. Marinades – always a flavor hero – can support health too. In fact, the American Institute of Cancer Research reports that marinating meat, poultry, or fish for at least 30 minutes before cooking can reduce the formation of compounds considered carcinogens.

Better for You BBQ is among more than 20 free online classes and dozens of in-store demonstrations offered this summer. Review the full schedule to learn more about the free online webinars in July, August and September.

“Saving time is a theme across most of our summer events,” said Katy Magoon-Fredette, RDN, LD, a registered dietitian at Hannaford. “When you get into the summer travel and back-to-school season, saving time with things like simple snacks becomes really important too.”

Here are highlights from the summer schedule:

July – In addition to Better for You BBQ, July offers Meal Planning Made Easy to help with the time crunch.

August – Simplify Snacktime offers pointers on preparing snacks that are quick, portable and packed with nutrition.

September – No Fuss Meals for the Whole Family offers creative ways to refresh old favorites in celebration of National Family Meals Month..
