Hannaford donates $25,000 to Community Health Centers to increase access to healthcare resources for LGBTQ+ community

Burlington, Vt. – In celebration of Pride Month, Hannaford Supermarkets is donating $25,000 to the Community Health Centers (CHC) in Vermont to support increased access to healthcare for underserved populations, including the LGBTQ+ community.
 
The funding will support CHC’s programming that offers dedicated services and knowledgeable care to members of the LGBTQ+ community within their primary care model.
 
Additionally, the donation will support CHC’s comprehensive programs and services for all individuals regardless of financial status, including primary and preventative care, dental services and mental health support.
 
“We’re so grateful to Hannaford for their generous contribution that supports our mission of health care for the whole community,” said Kim Anderson, Director of Development and Communications for CHC. “Hannaford is helping us break down barriers to care that many underserved and underrepresented individuals face. CHC takes pride in our specialized care for diverse community members, including refugees and immigrants, LGBTQ+ and homeless populations. Hannaford’s partnership in this life-saving work is so valued.”
 
The donation is the most recent development in a multi-year partnership between the two organizations. Since 2022, Hannaford has donated a total of $60,000 to the Community Health Centers.

Hannaford is recognized as an industry leader for its commitment to supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace. For 12 consecutive years, Hannaford has received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s (HRC) Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.

Hannaford associates also have access to the LGBTQ+ and Friends Business Resource Group, which supports diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives for the LGBTQ+ community, and also plays an important role in driving engagement, increasing awareness and building community and allyship for LGBTQ+ associates throughout the company.
