Hannaford Supermarkets announces upcoming expansion of Gray store
Mar. 25, 2025
Approximately 12,000-square foot expansion will bring new services, features to Gray customers
Details:
Gray, Maine – Hannaford Supermarkets today announced that its Gray store, located at 130 Shaker Road, will undergo an expansion that will bring new services and increased convenience to customers. The expansion is designed to enhance the overall shopping experience while better meeting the needs of the community.
The expansion will add approximately 12,000-square feet to the current store’s footprint, allowing customers to enjoy expanded produce, meat and seafood departments, as well as a greater variety of grab-and-go meal solutions, dairy and frozen offerings.
Hannaford anticipates the project will begin in fall 2025. The store will remain open with regular hours and services while construction is underway. The project is expected to reach completion in summer 2026.
“We’re thrilled to announce the expansion of our Gray store,” said Todd Bullen, Vice President of Retail Operations for Hannaford Supermarkets. “This expansion will offer our Gray customers an even better shopping experience while maintaining our commitment to fresh, quality food and dependable value. We thank our Gray customers for their loyalty and look forward to welcoming them to a newly enhanced store.”
The project will expand the store’s parking lot, as well as the in-store pharmacy, which will enjoy the addition of a private consultation room for immunizations. Additionally, the store will welcome the addition of more self-checkout registers and a second entrance to enhance customer convenience.
In line with Hannaford’s position as an industry leader in sustainability, the remodel will incorporate new features that enhance the store’s energy-efficiency and reduce its carbon emissions – including the installation of a new carbon dioxide refrigeration system and electric cooking equipment.
The Town of Gray, which formally approved the project earlier this year, commended Hannaford for its continued commitment to serving the Gray community.
“We are excited to see Hannaford Supermarkets continue to invest in our community with this significant expansion," said Michael Foley, Town Manager of the Town of Gray. "The new services and features will greatly benefit our residents and the region, and we appreciate Hannaford's commitment to sustainability and enhancing the overall shopping experience. We look forward to the positive impact this project will have on our town.”
