Scarborough, Maine – For the 13th consecutive year, Hannaford Supermarkets received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s (HRCF) 2025 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report evaluating corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality.
Hannaford is the only supermarket in its market area to receive a top score, and one of 765 major U.S. businesses to earn top marks this year. Hannaford operates 189 stores in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts and New York.
“Hannaford is deeply committed to creating the most welcoming place to work and shop, where everyone feels valued and supported from the moment they walk through our doors,” said Tony Giampetruzzi, Head of Internal Communications, DEI and Engagement for Hannaford Supermarkets. “The HRC designation proudly displayed at our entrances is a symbol of our steadfast support for the LGBTQ+ community. It represents our continued commitment to empowering people to embrace their most authentic selves every day, whether they’re working or shopping at our stores.”
Hannaford’s efforts to provide an inclusive work environment for the LGBTQ+ community satisfied all CEI’s criteria to earn a score of 100 and the designation as recipient of the HRCF’s Equality 100 Award.
