Payne Road store marks second location for Hannaford in Scarborough

 

Hannaford to mark opening with $10,000 in donations to local hunger relief organizations

 

SCARBOROUGH, Maine– Hannaford Supermarkets will welcome customers to its new Scarborough store, located at 417 Payne Road, beginning Saturday, October 7 at 7 a.m.

 

The arrival of the new 58,000-square-foot store – Hannaford’s second in its hometown of Scarborough – will deepen the retailer’s ties with the community while enhancing convenience for customers with such offerings as grab-and-go meals; a hot and cold foods bar; Hannaford To Go grocery pickup and delivery; nearly 20 self-checkout registers; and a full-service pharmacy.

 

Hannaford will celebrate the grand opening of the new Payne Road store with a variety of special giveaways and offers for customers throughout the month of October, including the opportunity to enter-to-win a $1,000 Hannaford gift card.

Shoppers at the Payne Road store will enjoy an expansive hot and cold foods bar offering fresh, ready-to-eat items made on-site daily, including brick-oven pizza and chef-crafted sushi. The store will also offer a variety of high-quality, freshly-prepared grab-and-go meals, including entrees, appetizers, side dishes, sandwiches and salads.

 

Customers will enjoy unique store brand offerings such as Taste of Inspirations, Hannafordand Nature’s Promise, as well as thousands of natural, artisan and organic products. The Scarborough store will also offer a variety of items made by localfarmers and producers, including Casco Bay Creamery in Scarborough; Coffee By Design in Portland; Smiling Hill Farm in Westbrook; and Watcharee’s Thai Sauces in Yarmouth.

 

Hannaford To Go welcomes Scarborough area shoppers to order groceries online for pickup or delivery in as little as four hours with the same everyday low prices and special offers customers find in store. Hannaford To Go customers can shop from recent online and in-store purchases; easily redeem digital coupons; and add items to their cart directly from the digital weekly flyer.

 

The Payne Road store will offer the everyday low prices that customers expect from their local Hannaford, with the added benefit of My Hannaford Rewards, a program that allows users to earn two percent rewards on all private brand purchases and receive personalized coupons. In celebration of the opening, My Hannaford Rewards customers will receive four percent rewards on all private brand purchases at the Payne Road store from October 8 through 12. 

 

The Payne Road store’s full-service pharmacy will provide a convenient and affordable wellness solution for the entire family, including pets.The pharmacy will offer same-day delivery, curbside pickup and mailing for prescriptions, as well as easy and convenient refills. A private consultation room will be available for Covid-19, flu, shingles and pneumonia immunizations. Appointments can be scheduled in advance online.

 

To commemorate the grand opening, Hannaford will make a total of $10,000 in donations to two local hunger relief organizations: the Scarborough Food Pantry and the South Portland Food Cupboard.

Every Hannaford store donates rescued food to local hunger relief, and regularly supports local non-profits and schools. All Hannaford stores divert or donate food at risk of going to waste—sending no food to landfills. In 2022, Hannaford donated more than 25 million pounds of food to hunger relief organizations and prevented 65 million pounds of food waste from reaching landfills.

 

Following the grand opening on October 7, the Payne Road store will be open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

The Payne Road location marks Hannaford’s 187th store, including 66 in Maine. The store will employ nearly 140 full- and part-time associates. Hannaford will continue to operate its other Scarborough Oak Hill store at its existing location.
