Salsa Verde Beef Burgers with Tortilla Chips
Ingredients
Adding jarred salsa directly into the beef mixture gives the grilled patties extra kick and helps keep them moist. For less heat, use Monterey Jack or muenster cheese instead of pepper Jack.
1 lb. lean ground beef
1/2 cup jarred salsa verde, divided
1 Tbsp. olive oil
4 seeded hamburger buns
4 slices pepper Jack cheese
1 medium avocado, peeled and pitted
1/2 (24-oz.) package iceberg garden salad mix

In a large bowl, combine beef and 1/4 cup salsa verde. Season with salt and pepper. Shape beef mixture into 4 burger patties.
Grease grill or grill pan and heat to medium. Brush cut sides of buns with oil. Place bread on grill and heat until toasted, 1 to 2 minutes per side.
Place burgers on grill or grill pan and cook until desired doneness, about 3 to 4 minutes per side. During last minute of cooking, place 1 slice cheese on each burger and cover to melt.
In a small bowl, mash avocado until desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper. Spread 1 tablespoon mashed avocado on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top avocado with salad mix. Top salad mix with cooked burgers. Finish each burger with 1 tablespoon salsa verde and top with bun. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.
